Faster access
The major benefit of a non-contended service is speed. At popular times customers using standard Internet Service Providers will find the speed of their connection drops as the number of users per 100 increases from 1 to 20 - 30. This increases the contention on the network (which is like congestion on a motorway causing traffic to travel slowly) and the service slows down. At Non-contended because we can offer a contention ratio of 1:1, whether you use the Internet at a busy time or quiet time, you will always get the speed that your modem supports. E.g. a 56K modem will always connect at 56K.

Cheaper phone bills
Internet users incur a cost for every minute they are online. By connecting at a faster rate, page delivery will be quick, downloads will be rapid and the time spent online will be less. The result being you pay less for accessing the same data.

Same charge per minute
All Non-contended customers will access the services using a 0845 number. The cost of the calls are charged at a local rate, which means customers will pay the same or less than other ISP's. The charges associated with these numbers as follows:

Weekday calls between 8am and 6pm 3.95 pence per minute
Weekday evening calls between 6pm and 8am 1.48 pence per minute
Weekend calls between midnight Friday and midnight Monday 1 pence per minute
(ALL FIGURES INCLUSIVE OF VAT)  

No Monthly Subscription
Unlike ISP's like AOL and U-Net all Non-contended's members benefit from no monthly subscription fees.
